AirDrop for Windows? Check Out Android's New File-Sharing Tool for the PC
Google recently rolled out the Nearby Share app for Windows, which has been in beta since March. The new tool lets you easily send and receive files -- photos, videos, music, documents and more -- between nearby Android devices and Windows computers.
To use Nearby Share, you need to have the following:
An Android device running Android 6.0 Marshmallow or later.
Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network or have Bluetooth turned on.
Open the file you want to send.
Tap the Share button.
Select Nearby Share.
Tap your computer to send the file.
To receive a file from your Android device to your Windows computer, follow these steps:
Make sure the Nearby Share app is open on your computer.
Tap the notification to accept the file.
The file will be saved in the Downloads folder on your computer.
Here are some additional things to keep in mind when using Nearby Share:
You can only send files to devices that are nearby and have Bluetooth turned on.
If you're sending a file to a computer that's not on the same Wi-Fi network, the file will be sent over Bluetooth.
Nearby Share is a great way to quickly and easily share files between your Android device and your Windows computer. It's a bit like AirDrop for Windows, and it's a welcome addition to the Android ecosystem.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
